Steven P. Murphy is an innovative leader and creative strategist whose experience in international brand management makes him a highly respected consultant on the intersection of culture and business.
Steven served as CEO of Christie’s International from September 2010 through 2014, a period that saw Christie’s become the number-one auction house in the world and enjoy the three most profitable years in its history. Leading the company’s digital expansion by launching its online sales platform, Steven also increased its geographical presence by inaugurating Christie’s as the first fully independent auction house in Mainland China.
Prior to joining Christie’s, Steven was CEO, COO and Executive Vice President at Rodale Inc, during which time he was named one of the top 10 CEOs in the US by BusinessWeek. His experience also includes four years at Disney Publishing Worldwide as Executive Vice President and Managing Director, seven years leading a record label group for EMI music, and serving as president of a publishing group for Simon & Schuster.
In 2017, he was appointed as a Trustee to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Steven served on the Board of Directors of the Ralph Lauren Corporation for 10 years and continues to advise the brand as a strategic consultant.
